New Orleans

Our family had the wonderful opportunity to go to New Orleans for a wedding of one our church attenders. None of us had been there before so we went without too many expectations but looked forward to exploring a new city.

One of the highlights was trying different kinds of delicious foods. Beignets are very popular in New Orleans and were a tasty snack. They are the powdered sugared fried goodness on the right.

For one meal we shared steamed crawfish. Malakai wasn't so sure about them... He had shrimp instead.

One morning we ate at a bakery and enjoyed fresh croissants. Raspberry, almond, sausage, ham and cheese:)

The wedding took place in the courtyard of the beautiful hotel that we all stayed at. Luckily the rain held off until after the ceremony. Marty did a good job officiating the ceremony.

Riding the street car from French Market to the River Market,

The mighty Mississippi

Riding the free ferry from New Orleans to a surrounding town across the river.

Besides the hot, hot weather we enjoyed the local Audobon zoo.

Taming the local animals....

Great Photos! It looks like a blast. I'm impressed with Malakai's brave taming of the T-Rex. Did you guys choose to sit next to the "Wishing Well" on purpose when you ate your croissants? Was it to remind you of your European trip 7 years ago? http://www.brussels.be/artdet.cfm/4328
