Organic Veggies and Fruit

We joined a raw foods co-op last week called Rawfully Organic. The idea behind it is to get you the freshest local, organic food that money can buy in large quantities. It's not like going to the store and picking out what you want, and leaving behind what you don't. It's a true co-op. You buy a "share" each week, and you get what everyone gets. The buyer selects good food at good costs each week, and tries to rotate different varieties. This picture is from our first share. It included 21 different kinds of fruits and veggies, with a total of 47 items (6 oranges, 1 head of lettuce, 1 eggplant, etc...). The great thing about it is that you get things you typically wouldn't pick up at the store. But with this method, it pushes you to try new things. Everyone in the family has decided that organic really does taste better! Especially the fruit, yum, the citrus is amazing.

So far we've had a delicious bok choy chinese meal, zuchinni-chicken casserole, steamed cabbage to celebrate mom's birthday, pear-kale smoothies, eggplant parmigiana, and lots of fresh salads. We aren't vegetarians yet, but we're learning to eat more healthfully, and starting to crave new veggie dishes. Next time we pick our share up, we may even decide not to "pass" on the Swiss Chard.

Eat well, enjoy what you eat, and give thanks for all the hands that helped bring it to your table.
